One Stop Systems Introduces the First PCIe Gen3 Flash Storage Array (FSA) and Gen3 High Density Compute Accelerator (HDCA) for HPC at RTECC Santa Clara

RTECC, Santa Clara, CA – January 23, 2014 – One Stop Systems, Inc. (OSS), the leader in PCIe expansion High Performance Computing (HPC) solutions, unveils its latest appliances for the HPC market at RTECC, Santa Clara. The HDCA supports up to sixteen NVIDIA K-series GPUs or Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessors. The FSA supports up to 32 Fusion-IO ioScale NAND Flash boards providing 100TB of Flash memory that can reach 40GB/s throughput and over 8 million IOPS. Both appliances are targeted for data centers operating HPC applications, providing the user with a complete appliance that solves any integration issues. The user simply connects the cables to the host servers and has thousands of compute cores or hundreds of TB of storage readily available.

FSA
“Today’s enterprises are increasingly seeking turnkey solutions to deliver breakthrough shared storage performance like the OSS FSA,” said Marius Tudor, Fusion-IO Senior Director of Strategic Partners and Channels. “Fusion-IO is pleased to team up with innovators like One Stop Systems to architect a powerful, compact, all-Flash shared storage platform designed with Fusion ioScale and ION Data Accelerator software.”

HDCA
“One Stop Systems has consistently produced ground-breaking products in the HPC market,” says Steve Cooper, OSS CEO. “The HDCA utilizes the latest silicon available with expert design capabilities experienced in designing PCI Express expansion products. The result is the fastest computational device on the market today and the easiest to install and use. Because we have pre-configured the system with cutting-edge coprocessors and GPUs, the time to get systems up and running is greatly minimized. This product is the dream of any data center manager.”

“NVIDIA Tesla GPU accelerators are the highest-performance, most energy- efficient ones in use by HPC and supercomputing customers worldwide,” said Sumit Gupta, general manager of Tesla Accelerated Computing products at NVIDIA. “OSS & PLX are providing customers a differentiated high-density system with world-class HPC performance to solve their most difficult computational challenges.”

“PLX ExpressLane PCI Express Gen3 switch technology -- empowered by high-speed throughput of eight gigatransfers per second, per lane, in full duplex mode -- enables a wide range of applications, including ultra-high-performance dual-GPU traffic management, and meets the demanding requirements of interconnectivity within the box, while becoming a box-to-box favorite among industry leaders,” said Gene Schaefer, executive vice president, worldwide sales, PLX Technology.  “One Stop Systems’ High Density Compute Accelerator -- whose connection to powerful NVIDIA GPUs and other system elements are made possible by 23 ExpressLane switches -- is an excellent example of three industry leaders in their respective fields delivering on innovation.”

Easy installation
Installation is made easier by the modularity of the appliance. The HDCA consists of the rackmount chassis, three modular power supplies, four pre-loaded canisters, and the front bezel. Each canister is preloaded with four NVIDIA Tesla K40, K20, or K10 GPU accelerators. Ample cooling is provided by a fan located on the front of each canister plus four exhaust fans mounted on the rear of the enclosure. The canisters and power supplies slide into the front of the chassis and the front bezel snaps into place. One to four servers are then cabled to the rear of the enclosure. Each connection operates at aggregated Gen3 speeds of 128Gb/s.
